The above story does indeed make me ashamed to be a member of the Caucasian race.

Sadly, they don't print stories about the opposite.

I grew up in a rough area in the south side of Chicago. A predominantly black neighborhood. The amount of times that I heard "Cracker" would make your ears bleed.

Racism is ugly everywhere.

discrimination anywhere is a bad thing----I went to a parochial high school (not out of choice). and even though I LOOKED similar to the others, I was not the same religion---so I was called names (even by the TEACHERS), laughed at, hazed and generally left out of anything kids would want to do in high school (good things--not the illegal stuff)...makes me hate my high school years as well as the religion of those I went to school with----feelings that I should NOT have and have been working on every since (yes emotional scars are hard to get rid of too)....

its bad no matter where you are...

Arizona is going to go into a civil war pretty soon if this keeps up though. They are the current hotbed for this kind of asinine behavior as of late.

Arizona is nowhere near anything even resembling a civil war. The vast majority of the population here supports the law. Along with the vast majority of many states.

Racism is the same everywhere. Not at all different in Arizona.

what the hell is going on in Arizona? Seriously, they are going on an all-out quest for negative publicity.

Don't get me wrong -- I love the state, used to go there every spring break to watch Spring Training and chew tobacco, then go to ASU at night to play hoops. Great memories. But that was then, this is now.

1. First of all, this particular incident isn't an Arizona problem, it is a local issue in a town that happens to be in Arizona.

2. We only know one side of the story, so while this looks bad at the moment, maybe there is more going on here. Probably not, but you never know. We don't know how many complaints the city got, why, and from who.

3. If you are referring to Arizona's crackdown on illegals, ie cops can only ask about residency if someone is being questioned while getting a traffic ticket or something like that, would you at least consider their side before calling things asinine? The federal government is not doing its job in enforcing the immigration laws and it won't as long as 20 million+ votes from illegals are on the line. Phoenix is the 2nd kidnapping capital in the world, largely due to the presence of illegals. Also, the need for this crackdown started when a farmer got gunned down and murdered, on his own land, by an illegal immigrant. So while this mural incident looks bad, the other things were being done out of prudence.

4. While I'm talking about illegals, let's remember Mexico is a corrupt poop-hole being overrun by the drug cartels. Letting in a ton of refugees (which is what a lot of the illegal aliens are) doesn't solve the main issue at hand: Mexico desperately needs to be fixed. Last year we even heard some reports that they were getting close to a civil war.

5. Finally, why aren't we the least bit worried about kids at an elementary school being indoctrinated into the green movement? To me that's just as asinine, or more so, as complaining about the mural. I mean if someone put up a mural of Moses with the Ten Commandments a lot of the people complaining about this would be poopin' porcupines and demanding that that mural be taken down.

Couple that with heat and you've got a swell place to live.

when I lived in japan, the local authorities there had the right to stop you on the street and ask for your papers ANYTIME....so if you were just hoping down to the 7-11 for some tea--you made sure to bring your visa with you or face a very long time at the local police station (happened to one of the other guys I worked with, good thing he had his cell with him and called our head office who then had one of the big wig police guys call my friend back and talk to the officers there---he was let go)...

The unreported answer is this:

The actual request to change the mural had nothing to do with the color. They simply wanted to add "light" because the child is supposed to be jumping into sunlight. Of course the RETARDS that are "news" don't even bother to listen to people and make a mountain out of a molehill. Because "There should be light on that childs face" isn't news but "MAKE THAT BLACK CHILD A WHITE CHILD!" is ZOMGNEWZ!

I revoke my previous statement that I was ashamed to be Caucasian. Screw that. I'm ashamed to have believed something printed in the "News" without checking other sources.

I highly doubt the sources you checked

This appears to be one of those lame excuses for racism. LOL. Especially after the frequent racist remarks about the mural.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnO6D...layer_embedded

They have reversed the decision to lighten the faces, and are standing up against the racist crap, for whatever reason.
